Originally by: Alyxa Mahan While leaving out the drones is at its heart a good idea, its not really a good idea in this specific case, as it may lead you to overlook something.
The Golem and Paladin keep the weapon damage and the drone bays of the Raven and the Apoc respectively, while the Vargur combines the Mealstroms turret dps with the Tempests smaller done bay, resulting in somewhat less damage than a real Meal, depending on the actually used drone mix. The Kronos on the other hand, combines the Hyperions turret dps with the Megathrons larger drone bay, resulting in the only Marauder that actually outdamages the tier 3 BS.
The more i read and think about these ships, the more i wonder wtf where they thinking? These stats can't possibly be the result of a real brainstorm about usable ships, they look more like someone sat down for five minutes, writing down the 16 ships, and then went back to playing WoW. And even for that much effort, the ships look haphazardized.
Once again, it's myopic (look it up) players like yourself that are too busy comparing paper stats and not looking at the practical application of ship design.
The Golem will be the most versatile of all four ships for mission running. Period. No other ship has missiles as it's primary weapon system, and only missiles provide the combination of range and firepower, always hitting their targets, no tracking, and no cap use.
Coupled with a TP bonus and an extra tanking bonus, the Golem will be able to surpass the Raven and CNR in overall flexibility vs. a wide range of targets, not just BS and BC. Peak DPS means little if you can't actually get that level of performance out of a ship.
All the turret ships will be hitting for around 70-80% of their paper peak DPS output due to tracking and sig res issues of the guns.
The Kronos in particular is limited to using rails for missioning, as blasters would be absurd in a deadspace area, where you're limited to an afterburner. Even *with* 425mms, you're looking at using T2 ammo a large part of the time to get enough range to hit anything, unlike cruise launchers, which can use regular T1 ammo for full damage at maximum range, with no penalties.
So for God's sake STFU about how poor every ship is besides the Kronos. Each one has some very specific advantages, and if you like one more than the other, cross train. BS 5 for each race is only 35-40d or so. Suck it up and train it. You're not denied the ability to train another race's BS just because you didn't start out with it, unlike other games (WoW).
